Workshop news

Hey Everyone! Transitions Bachata class will be held thursdays.  If you’re available, come by the second floor Lobby of the Historic Y, 738 N. 5th Ave Thursdays for a Transitions/Intermediate Bachata lesson.  $8 for the hour. 

Upcoming events:

The Ladies Only Lap Dance workshop returns this month for those who missed it last month.  Even if you did come last month, Summer will review some material, but most of it will be new that wasn’t covered in the first class.  Info and Registration can be found at www.LapDanceWorkshop.com  Class will be on Saturday, September 29th from 7-9 pm

Why a Lap Dance class? Increase confidence and comfort in personal sensual expression by fusing movement and touch in this classy and professionally taught class.  Summer has taught this workshop all over the US and it has become one of the most popular amongst the Bachata festival circuits!  Too shy to come to a class, Summer also has instructional DVDs available to practice in the privacy of your own home.

No Bachata Social this week

The Summer Bachata Social date has been changed for July.  Rather than having it on the second Friday of this month it will be on the third Friday, July 20th.  Join us at Cirque Roots, 17 E. Toole Ave at 8:30 pm for a viewing of the film, El Duke de la Bachata followed by dancing til midnight of Bachata, Salsa and Merengue.

$5 per person

El Duque de la Bachata is the story of Joan Soriano, a Bachata Musician from the Dominican Republic, as he struggles to reach his goal of a hit CD and success as a musician. It is also the story of his large extended family living in the  rural countryside of Monte Plata as they dream along with him, hoping that his success will improve their economic situation and quality of life.

June 8th Soulseros Social!

Join us at Fluxx (416 E. 9th St) for a fun night of dancing and socializing.  From 9 pm until midnight, Salsa Soulseros will be hosting this Bachata and Salsa Social, with some merengue thrown in.  This Bachata social is tentatively scheduled for the second friday of each month in the summer… so dont miss out. This social will be 70% Bachata and 30% a mix of Salsa/Merengue. This is an 18 and over event, and of course you must be 21 and over to drink (IDs will be checked by Security Staff) so have those ready at the door.  Fluxx is a non-profit community arts organization and all bar sales go towards running this great space!

Friday, June 8th: 9pm – midnight

$5 per person:  Cash only and correct change appreciated

Age restrictions: 18 years an older (IDs will be checked by Security staff) No IDs = No entry.

May Workshops

The schedule for our May workshops is now posted, Click HERE for details.  These specialty classes will start this weekend with Bachata FIT and Crazy Merengue this Saturday!  Both of these classes are open to all experience levels.  Our Salsa, Bachata and Ladies Bootcamps have separate experience requirements so be sure to check the May Specialty Classes page and pre-register for the workshops to get the best prices and reserve your spot.

Saturday:

The Bachata Social is ON for this week!!  This Saturday, DJ Rob will be playing all bachata and salsa songs that came out this year, 2011.  Come enjoy awesome music and friendly people! Social will start at 8 pm this week due to the UA football game.  Parking just south of building is free after kickoff so plan on being there from 8 pm on.  Directions HERE

Updates and Class on Labor Day.

Class  is on for September 5th.

Classes will be held this Labor day, monday September 5th….so consider joining us!

No Class August 31st or September 19th!

Class will NOT be held this Wednesday August 31st. Sorry intermediate students, but class will be cancelled that day.  Summer injured her knee!  Check the website next week for updates and to see if the wednesday class is back on. And as always you are welcomed to attend the monday class from 7pm onwards to review old patterns, meet new students or just to have plain fun.

  • There will NOT be a Bachata class this friday April 1st. Bachata will now be held on Wednesdays at FLUXX studios, beginning April 6th!  For the exact location click on the Fluxx Logo below or click the above tab for  ”CLASS SCHEDULE AND LOCATION”.
  • Due to the 4th Ave Street Fair, Bachata FIT will NOT be held this Saturday.  So go enjoy the weather, great artists and food vendors.

Saturday, March 26th: Dinner & Dancing

Come enjoy an evening of delicious food at the new Downtown Kitchen, dancing at El Parador to Salsarengue and meeting new people.  This will give you the opportunity to get to know and practice with your fellow Salsa and Bachata students.

Nationwide Bachata Festivals in 2011

During January and February we will be teaching at various Bachata events around the U.S.A. This means that our schedule will be a little different for these months.  While Monday (January 3rd 6pm) will be our first class for 2011, please check back often for our updated class schedule.
